On 21 February, four members of the Kafka’s Transformative Communities project team will participate in an event hosted by Deutsches Haus Columbia University in New York.
Professor Carolin Duttlinger, Professor Barry Murnane, Professor Katrin Kohl and Dr Ian Ellison will be in discussion with translator Ross Benjamin, Professor Mark Christian Thompson, Professor Mark Anderson and PhD candidate Luca Arens.
Together they will explore the question of the non-human in Kafka's writing and thinking – animals, bugs, machines, inhuman humans, ghosts, things that have a human-like characteristics and other phenomena in his strange but timely fictional universe.
