Artist interviews available on YouTube

Today marks one year since the the centenary of Kafka’s death on 3 June 1924.

To continue celebrating Kafka, and the ways that his works continue to inspire and be reimagined, we are pleased to announce that the Kafka’s Transformative Communities project now has a YouTube channel.

The channel includes a playlist where you can find interviews with our participating artists and practitioners exploring their creative collaborations with the project:

  • Composer Can Bilir reflects on his composition The Silent Songs of Josefine.
  • Artist Tessa Farmer sheds light on her installation Insect Enemies.
  • Playwright Ed Harris talks about his adaptations of The Trial and The Man Who Disappeared, and Franz and Felice, an original play exploring Kafka's relationship with Felice Bauer.
  • Anna Kelly (Publishing Director at Little, Brown) discusses the anthology A Cage Went in Search of a Bird, specially commissioned for the centenary of Kafka’s death.
  • Choreographer Arthur Pita and composer Frank Moon share insights into the creation of Pita’s dance adaptation of A Hunger Artist.

A highlights video from all the artist interviews is available here.

On the same playlist you can also find a roundtable discussion on Transforming Kafka which took place at Kafka Transformed International Conference (September 2024) with those artists who were able to attend, chaired by Professor Lucia Ruprecht.
