On 10 April 2026, Carolin Duttlinger gave a Keynote Guest Lecture at the Institute for English, Germanic and Romance Languages at Copenhagen University entitled Räume der Versenkung: Kafkas Poetik der Aufmerksamkeit. The lecture was based on Professor Duttlinger's latest monograph, Attention and Distraction in Modern German Literature, Thought, and Culture, (Oxford University Press 2022). The book traces the highly topical issues of 'attention' and 'distraction' in the digital age back to the founding of experimental psychology in the Enlightenment and follows their thematisation in German and Austrian literature and thought, photography and music, psychology and self-help literature up to the present day.
